The Leader in Training program encourages the personal growth of each LIT through teaching and experience. Ultimately, the LIT program is about discipleship: forming people into lifelong servants of Christ who actively participate in the growth of the kingdom of God.

How it Works

The program takes place over two years. Both summers are broken into two weeks: a teaching week at camp and an inner-city service project.

NOTE: There are a limited number of spots each week. Spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Apply early to avoid disappointment.

The First Year

At-Camp Week: July 16 - 21, 2012

  • teaching sessions about topics related to faith, servanthood, love, and how these things are translated into real life.
  • good conversation, learning from one another, and expanding one’s thinking.
  • the chance to make good friendships as we do fun activities together, serving and having a lot of fun in the camp setting.

Inner City Service Project: Date TBA

  • takes place over three days in Regina.
  • purpose: to put what we have talked about at camp into practice, and to show Christ’s love in the real world.
  • an excellent time of bonding and serving together, while building relationships with the kids, being exposed to another culture and socio-economic background, and gaining a heightened social awareness.

1st Year LIT Applications: 2012 application forms will be available to download in the spring.

The second Year

At-Camp Training Week: July 9-13, 2012

  • another week of learning at camp, expanding on the previous summer.

In-Cabin Experience Week: Dates TBA

  • experience what it is like to be a cabin leader by working alongside KBK staff, showing God’s love to the children who come to KBK.

Inner City Camp Experience: Dates TBA

2nd Year LIT Applications: Instructions for applying will be posted in the spring.

Mentorship

Each LIT must choose a mentor to help guide the camp experience. The mentor should be the same gender, someone they respect, and preferably who goes to the same church. The discipleship process does not happen overnight, or even over a summer. It is a lifelong journey, as we are gradually transformed into the image of Christ. Mentors encourage LITs to continue learning and to respond in their everyday lives to their summer encounters with God. They play an important role through encouragement, accountability, love, and support, and by demonstrating what being a Christian looks like in the real world.
